I spent time with the Lord this morning, and with a friend of His that made the journey to be with Him about 50 years ago. I would say that is when he died, but we know better than that don’t we.
Listen in on some of the conversation… “The present day conditions call loudly for a new examination and new presentation of God’s omnipotency, God’s sufficiency, God’s sovereignty. From every pulpit in the land it needs to be thundered forth that God still lives, that God still observes, that God still reigns.” To that I replied with an amen…and a woe is us. He went on to say “Drastic diseases call for drastic remedies…soothing-syrup may serve for peevish children, but an iron tonic is better suited for adults, and we know of nothing which is more calculated to infuse spiritual vigour into our frames than a Scriptual apprehension of the full character of God”. He then says… for it is written… and those words thundered through my bones, with all the reverb and echo of all the prophets and preachers of days gone by. “It is written…” by one of those ancient prophets… “The people that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits”
There is a thief that comes around to steal and to destroy. And he knows the junkyard dog is on a leash… he even knows the length of the line, for he is a wise thief. But woe unto him, the day that the animal breaks his chain, or is unleashed by the Master.
Sincerely,
one of the dogs
